Today we have the letter E added into the Sherlock Holmes Performers Index A-Z. Did we miss someone out? Let Howard or I know via the contact form. ![]()
Today we announce a new addition to The Diogenes Club Library - "The A-Z of Sherlock Holmes performers." Painstakingly compiled by Howard Ostrom, this 26 part index essay series show over 1200 known actors who have played Sherlock Holmes across Television, Film, Radio, Web, and Stage. Obviously, this is a little too much Sherlock Holmes to take in at once; which is why the series will be spread through January with one installment every day. However, to get things started both A and B is available for download. ![]()

You don't get to build an amazing autograph collection like The Howard Ostrom Collection without knowing a thing or two about autograph hunting. In this bonus video, Howard shares some of his secrets to how to about it. I would just like to share this with you. I am very proud to be the new owner of this magnificent piece. Formerly of the Howard Ostrom Collection, but Howard has now decided to bestow it upon me, feeling Arthur should be returned to England, and that I was one of the best people to look after him. It hangs proudly by my honorary "Nashville Scholars Of The Three Pipe Problem" inductee certificate. It is super rare genuine autograph of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself. A million thank you to Howard Ostrom, who I had the honour to meet on his London visit. You can check out the rest of the Howard Ostrom Collection Here. P.S. I was also given this amazing handsome statuette of my favourite Holmes! Today we have a new entry in the The Howard Ostrom Holmes and Watson Collection T.V. Section, and it's from my favourite U.S sitcom.
John Mahoney (1940 - ) dressed as Sherlock Holmes for a Halloween Party on the hit comedy "Frasier" in which he played Martin Crane, Frasier (Kesley Grammer) Crane's Father. The episode (Series 5, Episode 3 "Halloween"), sees Niles Crane pick out a costume for Martin so he can be the aristocratic detective "Lord Peter Whimsy". Martin does not think much to the idea and simply replys: "Well, I'm not going anywhere where I have to tell people my name's Whimsy! I want to be Sherlock Holmes!" And so for the rest of the episode - he is! Today we have a new entry in the Howard Ostrom Collection Holmes and Watson Collection.
Cher (1946 - ) and Carol Burnett (1933 - ) appeared in a skit as Holmes & Watson, on "The Carol Burnett Show" (1973). The skit also featured actor Dennis Weaver (1924 - 2006). Today we have a new entry in The Howard Ostrom Holmes and Watson Collection Misc Section. Paul McCartney (1942 - ) Although he did not play Holmes in any known median, he has often been photographed wearing a deerstalker. However, in the book "Lennon & McCartney and the Hound of the Baskervilles" (2013) by Jack Ferry, John Lennon was imagined as Sherlock Holmes while Paul McCartney was Dr. Watson. |
